Six compression modes built for parallel compression
BDL designed Manic Compressor with parallel compression in mind. It is usually a process that takes a long time setting up and routing in your DAW and then you're often left with lots of clutter and a messy interface, however with Manic Compressor Boz has removed this completely allowing you to do it all in one plug-in with a comprehensive toolset of controls so you can parallel compress with ease. Six different compression modes feature - clean, sheer, gritty, digital, vintage and smooth all with different characteristics which make them unique and very distinctive so you can have the perfect sound for whatever you find yourself working on.
Usually with mix controls, you're given a dial which would normally just about do the job but BDL has placed three faders - wet, dry and master to give you ultimate control to dial in precise amounts of parallel compression unlike anything else available. You'll wish that this had been the standard for years! It's more intuitive and the layout BDL has designed makes it simple to use so you can dial in your settings in no time at all.
More than just your standard controls
Rather than trying to reinvent the wheel entirely BDL have just developed it, not changing what already works but adding features that create extra usability so its user get more control than ever. Manic Compressor has the standard set of controls that you'd expect to get with a compressor such as an attack, release, threshold and ratio but they have added some rather cool features that will revolutionise your dynamics processing. Firstly, they have added a Loud Relief knob which allows you to take back some of the signal that's initially inputted from the grips of the compressor. This allows you to compress as heavy as you'd like to but then be able to dial in some more dynamics to make your tracks sound a bit more natural.
Beef allows you to change the way in which the compressor reacts to the input signal, Thick will let the higher frequencies of the source have a bit more of a hefty compression applied while thin will let the compressor crack a little harder. What's more, is that all your settings can be dialled in but changing through the six compression modes won't affect your settings in any way allowing you to see exactly what your tracks will sound like through a different compression module.
Practical and creative EQ done your way
EQ is a powerful tool in parallel compression allowing you to cut or boost frequencies post or pre-compression. Usual circumstances would mean a lengthy set-up process but as usual, BDL are here to save the day by placing two independent EQ modules into Manic Compressor. Sidechain EQ affects the signal going into Manic Compressor so you can take some emphasis away from instruments like cymbals before compression takes place. Tone EQ is for post-compression so you can emphasise a few lost frequencies or reign in those that have been emphasised a bit too much by the compression stage. You get complete control so even extreme settings can be used to create some unique sounds not achievable using other compressors in conjunction with external EQ modules.
