Key Features
The SOMA Ornament 8 Organismic Sequencer is a fully modular, analog synthesizer of behaviour, capable of creating complex rhythmic patterns and control signal sequencing. The Ornament 8 works unlike any other sequencer in that there is no clock generator or memory storage to create sequences and repeats, instead replacing these functions are the eight lines of delay cells that are used to create your sequencing. The delay lines must be patched using the included alligator clips to patch connections together to create the behaviour.
Ornament 8 does have the flexibility to be integrated with your existing modular Eurorack with CV control. In true SOMA fashion, the Ornament 8 pushes the envelope even further, with the ability to receive CV signals from audio and non-audio sources such as lighting rigs or electromechanical installations to truly break down conventional boundaries that can limit your creativity.

SOMA is renowned for creating unique devices with no lineage or borrowing from existing designs, and the Ornament 8 is no exception. Where a regular sequencer produces user-defined sequences at any given tempo, the fundamental of the Ornament-8 is that it lacks a clock generator and the very concept of tempo. The eight lines of delay cells receive a trigger pulse and hold that for a certain period of time before passing onto the next pulse. Each pulse feeds back into itself so that any sequence that has been patched together will then trigger further responses almost infinitely. By connecting the cells together in different ways, you can create dynamic, interesting and chaotic sequencing that can take your modular setup to the next level.
The eight delay lines have two switching schemes to vary their behaviour and depending on the switch scheme, the Ornament 8 can generate both stable, repeating oscillations to very complex and chaotic, time-evolving sequences, making this a must-have for live free-form performers who want to add a level of unpredictability to your shows for a unique listening experience every time.
