Keep granular processing in key
Lucid tackles one of the trickier parts of granular processing: keeping heavily transformed material harmonically connected to your track. Its Scale Lock system detects the pitch of individual grains and retunes them in real time, so pitch changes, modulation, and stacked harmonies can follow your song’s key. Pitch detection is particularly suited to monophonic sources such as vocals and lead parts, where individual notes can be identified accurately. You can also stack multiple grains to turn a single source into richer harmonies, or sequence grains through your scale for evolving arpeggiated patterns.
Lock textures to your timeline
Granular processing doesn’t have to drift away from the groove. Lucid continuously records incoming audio into a timeline-synchronised loop, giving you material that can be stretched, reversed, and scrubbed while remaining connected to your DAW timeline. Processing can sync directly to the grid or snap to detected transients, making rhythmic edits easier to place precisely. The locked waveform display provides a clear visual reference of the captured audio as you work. This makes Lucid useful for turning drum loops into timed stutters, reshaping sustained sounds, or creating rhythmic granular patterns without losing sight of their position.
Shape every grain independently
Each grain can carry its own processing, letting effects develop across individual fragments rather than applying one static treatment to the entire signal. A multi-mode Grain Filter provides independent modulation and drive, while the Grain Imager distributes grains around the stereo field using different panning patterns. Grain Delay combines multi-tap echoes with scale-locked pitch shifting for harmonic repeats and arpeggiated spaces. Grain Blur can also smooth digital artefacts introduced by freezing and time-stretching, helping more extreme processing retain a natural character. Together, these tools let you build detailed textures directly inside the granular engine.
Animate complex patches with ease
Lucid provides several ways to turn a static granular patch into something that develops over time. Macros, LFOs, curve sequencers, and envelope followers can be assigned to parameters using drag-and-drop controls or the modulation matrix. The animated XY pad brings two macros under one control, making it easy to move several assigned parameters together and explore different parts of a patch. Beyond the granular engine, eight studio-grade effects can be freely loaded across up to 12 rack slots for further processing. Over 350 presets and tag-based browsing also give you a quick route into Lucid without requiring previous granular synthesis experience.
Reviews
"Lucid produces massive sounds that cut through without sacrificing detail." - Oneohtrix Point Never (Warp Records, The Weeknd, A24)
"Lucid takes the simplest sound and turns it into a living texture. It's become our go-to granular tool for adding depth to a track." - Dirtyphonics (Monstercat, UKF)
"Someone is going to pull up one of Lucid's presets and define a whole new genre. It can be as precise as it can be obliterating." - Daedelus (Monstercat, UKF)
Features

- Every grain’s pitch is detected and tuned in real-time, allowing you to adjust pitch and modulate every note in real time, locked to your song’s key
- Granular timeline sync lets you time-stretch to your grid, snap to transients or scrub manually through a captured loop while everything stays locked to your timeline
- Over 350 mix-read presets across 13 purpose-built packs with a powerful preset browser to search by tags instantly
- Multi-tap harmonic grain delay with scale-locked pitch shifting for always in-key shimmer effects and arpeggiated spaces
- Each grain includes a dedicated filter with independent modulation and drive for shifting tone and texture
- Spread grains across the stereo field with unique panning patterns with the dynamic grain imager for a wide and controller stereo image controlled by the grains themselves
- Stack multiple grains simultaneously to create rich harmonies from any source
- Timeline display provides a locked waveform of the captured input so you can see exactly what Lucid is doing at all times
- One animated XY pad controls many parameters at once, for organic, evolving movement across your whole patch
- Grain blur blurs each grain to smooth away the digital artifacts of time-stretching and freezing, so even extreme processing stays organic and natural
- Eight freely loadable studio-grade effects that extend the granular output, from mix-ready polish to deep creative sound design
- Assign macros, LFOs, curve sequencers, and envelope followers to any parameter by drag-and-drop or the modulation matrix
