Route eight channels your way

Outbox 8 gives you eight physical 1/4-inch impedance-balanced, DC-coupled outputs, each configurable according to your connected device's capabilities. With compatible Elektron Overbridge-enabled hardware, you can send individual tracks or submixes to separate destinations instead of keeping everything within the main output path.

This gives you more freedom when using an external mixer, processing selected tracks through hardware effects, or preparing a performance setup with dedicated signal routes. Its 48kHz, 32-bit D/A converters handle the conversion, while the configurable output design lets you combine audio and CV duties within the same setup.

Connect modular gear with CV

Each suitable output can be assigned to CV, helping you bring modular systems and other CV-controllable equipment into your Elektron setup. The available signal types include grounded, V/oct pitch, Hz/V pitch, linear value, trig, gate, and clock, with a CV output range of +/- 5V.

That gives you several ways to handle notes, modulation, triggering, and synchronisation depending on the equipment you're connecting. Rather than dedicating Outbox 8 solely to audio, you can divide its eight outputs between audio and control signals as your setup requires.

Turn USB MIDI into CV control

Outbox 8 can operate as a dedicated USB MIDI-to-CV interface, giving MIDI-based equipment a practical route into CV-controlled hardware. Connect compatible Elektron gear to play, sequence, modulate, and synchronise modular equipment or other CV-capable instruments.

Alternatively, a USB MIDI controller can provide direct playing and control without requiring an Elektron instrument for that role. USB MIDI compatibility is broad, giving you useful flexibility when combining MIDI and CV equipment. This makes Outbox 8 particularly useful when your setup mixes different control formats and you want them working together through one compact connection point.

Add eight outputs to your computer

Connect Outbox 8 to a computer, tablet, or phone and it can serve as an eight-output USB audio interface. This lets you route separate channels from your DAW to external mixers, effects, monitors, and other hardware, opening up more options for processing and mixing outside the computer.

USB class-compliant audio devices are also supported, although compatibility can depend on the manufacturer and firmware, so checking the latest confirmed devices is worthwhile. A USB 2.0 High-Speed Type-C data port supports USB Power Delivery alongside dual-role data and power, with a separate USB Type-C input provided for power.
