Shape your sound with complex Buchla design
Ziggy centres around a fully analog complex oscillator paired with a modulation oscillator that runs at low or audio rates. This gives you access to frequency and amplitude modulation alongside wave shaping tools like the timbre wavefolder.
You can start from a simple sine wave and push it into sharper harmonics or blend in additional waveforms for more presence. The result is a wide range of tones, from soft textures to more defined leads and percussive sounds. Because the signal path stays analog, your sound retains character while digital control keeps everything precise and repeatable.
Assign modulation without patch cables
Instead of relying on patch leads, Ziggy uses a gesture-based system for routing modulation. Hold a control, move a slider, and your assignment is made. This approach keeps things clear and reduces setup time, especially when building complex patches.
The Cycler adds another layer by combining several modulation types into one source. It can act as a clock, envelope generator LFO or random source, giving you movement across pitch timbre or timing. There is also an additional slow LFO and MIDI control, so you can expand your modulation without complicating your setup.
Flexible filtering and dynamic control
The low pass gate brings together filtering and amplification in a single stage, based on a Sallen Key design. You can switch its behaviour to act as a VCA, a filter or both at once, shaping how your sound responds over time.
Instead of traditional ADSR controls, envelopes are formed from blended shapes that you adjust in time and level. This encourages exploration and can lead to more organic results. It also works well for percussive patches, bass tones or evolving textures, helping you dial in movement quickly without getting tied up in detailed parameter settings.
Ready for studio and performance setups
Ziggy is designed to slot into modern workflows with minimal effort. MIDI is available through USB-C five pin and type A connections, and there is support for 1v per octave CV, so it pairs easily with external gear and controllers. You can also bring in outside audio through the input and process it with the low pass gate and effects.
The onboard digital effects section includes reverb delay chorus pitch shifting and flanging, all with simple controls to shape the final sound. With over 100 presets and browser-based editing, you can organise sounds, update firmware and keep everything ready for your next session.
