Key Features
Product Ref: 116891
The Ortega R159MN features a solid Canadian cedar top which not only offers a pleasing aesthetic, but delivers an idyllic response to a lighter touch and complex picking techniques. In addition, cedar produces a dark, complex tone with a great bass response while also projecting rich harmonics. Its solid Canadian cedar top also has a sweet tonal output and tends to be less stiff than other tonewoods, which allows the top to respond superbly-well to fingerpicking techniques, making it favourable among the picking enthusiast. Furthermore, the R159MN's sweetly-toned top is attached to walnut back and sides which produce warm overtones and great projection. Similar to koa, walnut's stiffness and density project bright trebles with added emphasis to the mid-range and plenty of clarity.
Constructed from mahogany, the R159MN's neck provides a quick and dynamic response while adding extra warmth and resonance to the guitar's overall sound. Mahogany's nature allows it to respond greatly to numerous playing styles, accommodating both fingerpicking techniques and medium strength strumming beautifully. For added comfort, the neck features a medium (MN) profile, preventing the likeliness of a cramping hand throughout long, enduring practice sessions while also being perfect for smaller hands and shorter fingers. In addition, the neck is topped with a blackwood fingerboard that has been recognised by classical guitar builders as the 'holy grail' of tonewoods, offering a strong response and incredibly smooth sustain that a classical player will love.
The Ortega R159MN features a traditional classical body, offering comfort with an idyllic response to picking techniques, perfect for the player craving a classical instrument with a solid top. This type of guitar is built specifically to handle classical, Spanish, and Flamenco-inspired genres while being perfect for experimenting with a variety of fingerpicking techniques. In addition, the classical body combined with its pleasing mixture of tonewoods projects a well-balanced sound, perfect for arpeggios and many other techniques. Furthermore, the R159MN provides a comfortable playing experience due to its curvaceous classical shape being easy to hold close to the body throughout long practice sessions.
Ortega has an all new innovative bridge design that features 12 holes instead of 6. The 12 hole bridge is more commonly seen on higher end instruments, although Ortega ensures that all their classical instruments from entry level and above are fitted with this groundbreaking improvement. In addition, the all-new 12 hole design allow for easier string changes, making them quicker, easier, and slicker to change to a new set. Furthermore, the 12 hole bridge also improves the overall sound and enhances top production for a faster and more dynamic response.
